Types of installation
The WinTree update must always be installed on the PC or server where the database-server is installed.
Install WinTree on the following location, depending on the environment.
- Stand-alone: WinTree is used on 1 computer.
Install WinTree on the computer where you use the program. Use the description 'Patch stand alone' to install a patch. - Network - 'peer-to-peer', WinTree is used on 2 computers of which one is decicated as 'Main' computer.
Install WinTree on the 'Main' computer. - Network - 'Terminal Server', a connection to a server is made from the computer and all programs are started on the remote computer. WinTree is used by multiple users at the same time.
Install WinTree on the server. This is not necessarily the terminal-server. Ask your system administrator in case of doubt where to install WinTree. - Network - 'Client - Server', WinTree is used by multiple users at the same time and WinTree is started on your own computer.
Install WinTree on the server. Ask your system administrator in case of doubt where to install WinTree. - Network - Multiple 'Terminal Servers aside each other', a connection to a server is made from the computer and all programs are started on the remote computer.
Install WinTree on the server. Ask your system administrator in case of doubt where to install WinTree. - Network - Server with a failover server. An additional server is available that can take over functions of the main server in case of problems.
Install WinTree on the server. Ask your system administrator in case of doubt where to install WinTree. After succesful installation the fail-over server also must be updated.
From this point, the location where WinTree is installed will be called the 'Server'. use the description 'Patch network' to install a patch on a server.

My WinTree icon won't work (anymore)
This may be a result of a previous installation. The link to the program has been changed.
Remove the faulty icon and run a client-setup as described above. After installation the icons on the desktop and in the start-menu will work. Shortcuts in the quick-launch bar should be manually changed by removing the old icon and dragging the new icon from the desktop to the quick-launch bar.
I'm not sure if my workstation is up to date.
Try to start WinTree as usual.
If a message appears that WinTree.exe can not be located --> Start a client-setup as described above.
If a message appears that this version of WinTree is outdated --> Follow the on-screen instruction to update the workstation.
