When you are going to install WinTree it is important to know which type of installation (stand alone or server) of WinTree is used. It is important to install a version or patch on the correct computer/server. In the below paragraph you will find an overview that can help to determine the correct installation.

If you are in doubt about the location as to where to install WinTree, or if you need another form of assistance, please get in touch with TSD to make an appointment. ShowWhat kind of installation

Before a new version or patch can be installed, you first have to determine which type of installation needs to be carried out. The installation of a new version or patch on a stand-alone computer differs in a number of ways from an installation on a server. Use the overview below to determine which type of installation should be used. This only refers to the way WinTree is used.
A version or patch from WinTree must always be installed on the same PC or server on which the database server is installed.
Determine which installation type is used:

• Stand-alone: WinTree is used on 1 PC.
Install on the PC on which the program is used.

• Network – ‘peer-to-peer’: WinTree is used on 2 PCs and one of these PCs serves as the 'main PC'. This PC must always be booted up to be able to work with WinTree.
Install the update or patch on the 'main PC'.
• Network – ‘Terminal Server’: a connection is made to a server by the workstations in the network to be able to use all programs after the session is started. WinTree can be used by several users simultaneously.
Install the program on the server. This does not have to be the terminal server. In case of doubt ask the system manager where WinTree is installed.
• Network – ‘Client – Server’: WinTree is used simultaneously by several users, WinTree is started from your own PC.
Install WinTree on the server. In case of doubt ask the system manager where WinTree is installed.
• Network - several 'Terminal Servers next to each other': the PC makes a connection to one of the terminal servers in order to be able to use all programs on this server.
Install WinTree on the server. In case of doubt ask the system manager where WinTree is installed.
• Network - Server with a fail-over server; an extra server is available to take over the tasks of the main server in case the main server goes down.
Install WinTree on the main server. In case of doubt ask the system manager where WinTree is installed. After a successful installation on the server also the fail-over server needs to be installed.

The 5 network installations mentioned above require that WinTree is installed on the server.
